Meet the Porch Crew

Different is their favorite thing about each other.

Ashley

Ashley is six years old, imaginative, curious, and very funny. She has a special way of understanding Keegan and Mabel, loves making up stories, and considers pizza and ice cream perfectly reasonable food groups. She often makes completely serious observations that leave the adults around her trying not to laugh.

Mabel

Mabel is a giant schnauzer with a big, fluffy coat, an even bigger love for sticks, and LOTS of questions. She is curious, enthusiastic, loving, and never afraid to ask about something she does not understand. Her favorite things include adventures with Ashley, hanging out with Keegan, and finding a really good stick.

Keegan

Keegan is a gentle and patient golden retriever who always seems to know just what to say. He loves spending time with Ashley and Mabel and has a way of making hard things feel a little easier to understand. Thoughtful and observant, Keegan is always there when his best friends need him.

A gentle explanation

What are subliminals?

In this audio recording, subliminals are quiet spoken affirmations layered into the listening experience. They are words of encouragement about love, rest, safety, belonging, and self-worth. You can listen to the music without reading every affirmation, or read the words below as a text alternative to the spoken recording.

Good to know: These are supportive words for reflection and comfort, not medical advice or a replacement for professional care.

Wonder what the lyrics to “Feels Like Always” are?

Read the complete lyrics for the song Nina Stephens wrote for the series The Tales of Keegan and Mabel. The lyrics are provided as a text companion to the audio recording.

Verse 1

I don’t remember how it started,What day or what year we metAll I know is ever since then,You’ve felt like home in my chest.Maybe it was school, maybe just fate,Maybe the playground got the timing straightBut somehow we just clicked like we always wereMeant to stand side by side in this world.

Pre-Chorus

And there’s no picture on a wallMarking the first time that you called,But it doesn’t matter what we builtIs louder than the things we forgot.

Chorus

‘Cause it feels like alwaysLike you’ve been in every chapter, even the ones I don’t remember.Feels like alwaysLike we were already friends before we ever learned each other’s names. We don’t need a starting line to prove what’s real,Some people show up and just stay, and you’re stillSo even if I don’t know where it began,I know you’re where I’ll always land.Yeah… it just feels like always.

Verse 2

You’re the one who sees the mess in meAnd laughs while we jump in deep,The one who stays through games and quietWhile the rest just watch and leave. Some friendships fade like passing weather,But ours?It only gets betterBuilt on playground laughs and silly thingsThat only best friends ever understand.

Pre-Chorus

And I don’t need the calendarTo tell me how long we’ve been here,‘Cause the proof is every memoryYou never let me face alone.

Bridge

And maybe someday we’ll rememberWhere the story first beganOr maybe it doesn’t matter‘Cause I already know the end: You’ll be there, I’ll be there,Laughing at how far we made it,Side by side, still kids, undefeated.

Final Chorus

‘Cause it feels like alwaysAnd maybe that’s the magic, maybe that’s the proof.Feels like alwaysYou’re the friend I call when the world feels too loud, too cruel. We don’t need a first photo, a high score or a startYou’ve just always been written in my heart. So even if I never get the “when,”I know you’ll be my always friend.
